The Wine Route of Ribera del Duero joins the network of Collaborating Entities of the Napoleonic routes project NAPOCTEP

  • The Wine Route of the prestigious Designation of Origin Ribera del Duero has joined the network of Collaborating Entities of the NAPOCTEP project, making a total of three Wine Routes so far.
  • Ribera del Duero is part of four provinces: Burgos, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid. Throughout its 115 kilometres of region, there is a land of vineyards and cereals with a rich culture, gastronomy and heritage, where more than 300 wineries operate under the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin.

Brussels, 24.02.2021. – The NAPOCTEP Project continues to add Collaborating Entities to its network and expects to continue to increase in the coming months.

The figure of Collaborating Entity, one of the main objectives of the Napoleonic routes project NAPOCTEP, is developing successfully thanks to the good reception it is having among the municipalities through which the routes pass.

The aim of this figure is to encourage citizen participation in the municipalities that make up the routes with the aim of contributing to the development of the same and to reach a greater number of people.

The adhesion of the Ribera del Duero Wine Route is a great step forward for the project, as wine tourism is a very important element in the value chain of a complete and quality tourist product.

At present, the network of Collaborating Entities already counts with the participation of three wine routes: Ruta del Vino el Bierzo Enoturismo, Ruta del Vino Cigales and Ruta del Vino Ribera del Duero. Being able to count on these entities gives a great added value to the routes, as well as promoting the development of sustainable tourism that adds value to the area where it is developed, thanks to the support for the local economy that they represent.

The agreement of adhesion to the network of Collaborating Entities includes the commitment to mutual cooperation, the exchange of information, cooperation in the dissemination of tourist resources and other activities of interest.

Currently, the network of Collaborating Entities also has a specific space on the project’s website.

The NAPOCTEP project: Napoleonic Routes in Spain and Portugal is a project within the framework of the Interreg V-A Programme for Cross-border Cooperation Spain-Portugal POCTEP and its aim is to promote the cultural heritage of the Napoleonic period, through the creation of Napoleonic routes in an area that includes the central region of Portugal (Beiras and Serra da Estela) and the western provinces of Castilla-León (Salamanca, Zamora, Valladolid, León and Ávila), generating an innovative and attractive tourist product that generates economic activity and employment in an area affected by depopulation.
