Brussels, 18.10.2019.- On 21 June 1813, the Allied troops managed to defeat the Napoleonic troops in Vitoria. This was the last battle of the War of Independence, called “the Spanish ulcer” by Napoleon himself.
This relevant historical fact has inspired the Real Sociedad Bascongada de los Amigos del País to publish a book on the subject. The work, entitled LA BATALLA DE VITORIA. History, Characters and Territory, was presented last Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the Palacio Europa – Vitoria-Gasteiz.
It is undoubtedly a highly recommended work for lovers of the history and culture of the Napoleonic era. In addition, the book gathers numerous arguments to create a tourist product through the enhancement of historical and cultural heritage, as does the NAPOCTEP Project.
