Play for child and young people “A ver Navíos”
What is it?
It is a play based on the popular saying “A ver navíos”. This saying is used as an explanation for a Portuguese custom, specially in Lisbon, where people stayed to watch the ships that arrived at the port, hoping that one day, their king D. Sebastian would return to the country.
D. Sebastian was a king who fought in the battle of Alcácer – Quibir in Morocco, in which Moroccan and Portuguese armies fought a violent battle in 1578.
After his dissappearance, the belief of his coming back started to spread. His coming back would mean a new conquests age.
