The NAPOCTEP project, which is about Napoleonic tourist routes, will be presented next 4th February 2020 at 11:30h. at Ciudad Rodrigo’s town council.
One of the aims of the NAPOCTEP project is the creation of a tourist product of quality based on the extraordinary Napoleonic heritage that exists in Castilla and Leon and Portugal areas. It was approved in the 2nd call of the European Territory Cooperation Program Interreg POCTEP (Spain and Portugal) and it is leaded by a partnership formed by the following Spanish and Portuguese institutions: CIM Región de Coimbra, CIM Beiras y Serra da Estela, Turismo Centro de Portugal, Asociación Histórica Linhas de Torres, Junta de Castilla y León, Fundación Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico, Fundación Finnova y SEGITTUR. It has a 711.000 € budget, whose 75% is financed by the FEDER fund through Interreg POCTEP (2014-2020). It has two years to achieve its different activities, which were started in July, 2019.
On the 3rd and 4th of February the project will host its 2nd Management Committee at Ciudad Rodrigo, a key place in the development of the Independent War.
In the framework of this committee, there will be a public presentation of the project at Ciudad Rodrigo`s town council. A presentation whose main target is to be known and to involve as many public and private institutions as possible. Mrs. Estrella Torrecilla, Tourism General Director of the government of Castille and Leon and Marcos Iglesias, Ciudad Rodrigo’s major will take part in it. Besides the Napoleonic Routes project, other interesting projects will be presented such as Siega Verde, an archaeological site, the Eurovelo project of cycling routes, the Fortified Cities partnership Almeida – Ciudad Rodrigo and Paradores Nacionales. The intention is to create synergies among them.
